The relaxing Saturday, the busy Sunday, and school Monday

We missed three blogs because there was no electricity. We still don’t have electricity so maybe tomorrow or maybe the day after that. The big giant storm knocked the electricity things out and just our block has none. We have been using candlelight at night and it’s not that cool because we have to do a fire and light a lot of candles. There’s no light and we are in ancient times. I am showering and going to the bathroom in the dark with candles.

On Saturday, we woke up, did our morning routine, and it was raining a lot so we didn’t do anything. We played keepy uppy, which is where you have a balloon and it’s where you don’t let the balloon touch the ground. We have to only hit it one time and wherever the balloon goes we have to hit it. I found the balloon under the chair. It was a cool find.

I went into the garden and we have bad news. I touched a certain tree, which the sap had a bad chemical. Luckily I didn’t eat it because it would make you sick and diarrhea. My hands started to feel frozen because the bad chemical/poison came onto my hands and started a really bad hurtness and itchiness. I couldn’t eat lunch and mommy had to feed me. We are going back in time everybody. I’m as young as Odin now.

After lunch, we put cream on my hands and I held onto a cup of ice and watched tv. Then we relaxed for awhile. I ate dinner, and right after I ate dinner I put my hands in a cool cold bath. I got myself into the cold water then I took a shower and then all of a sudden the lights were out and we heard the biggest thunderstorm we ever heard in our entire lives in Guatemala.

Then I rested my hands while the others played some card games and then I went to bed.

On Sunday, we woke up, we did our normal routine and we rested a little bit while Kayla and Kianna were sleeping. I went to the coffee farm and we ate outside. There was a hammock and a wooden swing. A little bit later something crazy happened on the swing, the swing slipped over and I was hanging upside down. I called my mommy to help me, I hanged on as long as I can and she saved me.

I went on a little bit of a run with Kayla and a little bit of a walk with Kianna. I brought my walking stick through some muddy puddles and I accidentally got my left shoe so dirty. So then we walked a little bit more then we walked back to the restaurant. It was an outside restaurant. Then we played put put golf for fun. It was a nature put put. Then I got an ice pop. Then we walked and we saw this so cute dog, he or she loved Kayla and Kianna. He or she was so nice that she scared another dog away. Then we took an Uber, which means take a car ride back home. Then we went back home and still no power. We did our night routine and we played one game or go fish but the rest rummy. Then we went to bed.

Monday we woke up did our normal routine. Then we walked to school, we sat in a different room today. I like it. Me gusta (which means, I like it). I learned today but I didn’t write it in my book so I don’t remember anything. Then I had pausa (break) and we went to this cool breakfast place even though it was not breakfast. It was on the roof and we saw the volcano erupting. It was so cool.

We went back to school, then I learned more. Then I listened to Bones in Spanish and in English. Then we brought scrabble letters and we wrote words in Spanish. I think we won by 4 points, I think. It was veinte y cinco to veinte y uno (25 to 21). Then school was over. I came home, ate lunch, I had three hot dogs and some papas fritas (which means French fries). Then after we relaxed, the girls went to a cafe. After they were done with the cafe we played keepy uppy with sitting instead of standing. We had to keep the balloon in the circle. Our record was cuarenta y seis I think (46). Then we went to cerro de la Cruz and took gymnastics pictures.

Then we took a picture with a butterfly wings. Everybody did. Then we went to a fancy restaurant and I was the king of the table. My cup said principe which means prince. I had steak, chicken, shrimp, I tried a chip with mashed up beans and pico de Gallo but I did not like it. I had corn and papas fritas. Then we went to Starbucks to tour ourselves. Then we walked to our ice cream place but they didn’t have ice pops so we walked to the ice pop place and I got an orange ice pop. Then we walked home and took a shower in the dark with the candle. Then Kianna wrote a English song in Spanish and I helped her with some of it. Then I walked to my bed and I did this blog. The end. That’s my long blog.

Presentación Day

Luca writes…

Mi presentación hoy es el tomate (my presentation today is the tomato). It was the scariest thing I’ve ever done in my life and I don’t want to do any presentation ever again. Kianna and Kayla did so good, they were so brave. Tia chickened out. She didn’t even go up there!

Mi maestra made my favorite, pico de gallo. I ate it with a big round tortilla chip. It was delicioso. I love tomatoes. I can’t stop thinking about how I wish they had chipotle here. I can’t wait to eat it.

We went to dinner on a mountain. There was up and down. We went up first and it was pretty but when we went down it was more pretty. It had beds on a hammock that was hanging over the mountain. Mommy almost didn’t do it, but she did it.

It was worth being patient

Mi cuarto día de escuela

We woke up. We did our morning routine. We got ready for escuela (school). Then walked to the escuela. I like playing monkey in the middle so I asked mi maestra (my teacher) how to say it in español (Spanish) , mono en medio. I learned some words hoy (today). I hit a piñata in one hit and all the candy fell out.

Then we took a 10 or 15 minute walk to see some vegetables with our maestras. We got tomates (tomatos) from the market also with mi maestras. After the market we went back to escuela and I noticed that my writing skills have improved since last year.

My handwriting last year
My handwriting now

When school ended we walked all the way to (2 minutes) to Monoloco which is a restaurante (restaurant). I was super hungry and ate a hamburger and Papas fritas (French fries). It was so delicioso, then we went home for about treinta minutos (thirty minutes). Me and Kayla went to the basketball court. Then we ate dinner and I ate 2 hotdogs and a bowl of pasta. Then we did our night routine. Thennn I went to bed. That’s my blog.

All peaks and no valleys

Luca writes…

Every day we do peaks (good stuff) and valleys (not good stuff). Today I had no valleys, only peaks!

I woke up and ate and got dressed. Caminamos a la escuela (we walked to school). En el primer minuto (in the first minute) escuchamos música (we listened to music). I learned a little bit, I played a game of catch using verbos (verbs) with a boy named Leo. It was divertido (fun). Leo, me, and our teachers played hide and seek with cards with words on it. Leo is shorter than me and he wears a cowboy hat. I learned some more. Mommy surprised me with a new bag because my bag was ripped. She got it at the mercado (market). She also got me a basketball and I was so happy!

I was thinking about the rock road. Mom said it’s cobblestone. There was no cement so they had to make mud and water to make paste to stick the rocks in. It must have been hard and took 5 hours. And the people who built buildings had to get the wood from trees. It is hard work.

I ate pasta and pollo for lunch and 3 hot dogs and French fries for dinner. I snuggled with Kianna and watched tv. I caught a butterfly with my hands and it landed on my camisa (shirt) and flew away even after I touched it. It was a great day. I did my night routine and am in bed. That’s the blog.

Understanding

Nicole writes…

I believe I now understand the Paloma question I posed last year (when I pondered how they got the market on all park fountains).

They are bullies. They harass the competition, poop on everything marking their territory, and dominate the park fountains of the world.

I watched this menacing aggressor harass the other and was instantly filled with understanding.

Segundo dia de la escuela

Luca writes…

We woke up and did our normal morning routine. I learned some more. I sang a lot. Mommy met us at the pausa for a field trip. We went to the parque (park) to watch the festival/parade. They were celebrating Saint Santiago. There were a lot of people playing instruments, wearing their own hats and dresses and costumes, and there were only a few cars because there were so many people. It was muy interesante (very interesting). The drums and trumpets were my favorite part. I also liked seeing all of the little and big kids participating in the parade. That was cool. We went to eat lunch in a really cool garden. I put on a bottle wrapper attached to a bottle on my chin like a beard. We went home and I FaceTimed with my cousin Ady. Then we played monkey in the middle and after, I found a blind snake! I ate my favorite thing for dinner; spaghetti. I did my normal night routine. This is a short blog because it’s late. That’s my blog.

Mi primer día de la escuela

Luca writes…

We woke up, got dressed, ate breakfast, packed our backpacks for escuela (school), took our first day of escuela picture and caminamos (we walked) to the old school without knowing that the place changed. So, then we had to caminar more to the other location. Everyone filled out forms, and met our maestras (teachers). I felt happy to see my maestra again. Her name is Ms. Lucia, Kayla’s maestra is Ms. I don’t remember her name, Kianna’s maestra is Mrs. Rosa, and Tia’s maestra is Mrs. Cony. We first learned some words and then my favorite part was listening to música (music). Ms. Lucia played my favorite songs and she sang with me. A few of the new words I learned were; escucha (listen), corre (run), pega (stick), corta (cut), mira (look), and that’s all I can remember for now. Then it was pausa (break time) and I ate a galleta deliciosa (delicious cookie) and played ping pong with Kianna and Kayla. After break we learned and escuchamos (we listened) to more música, in English and then in Spanish. I wrote some words in my notebook. It was divertido (fun) and a little hard but I’m glad I’m learning. Then mom picked us up and we came home to eat lunch. I had the most delicioso pollo (delicious chicken), French fries and pan (bread). Then I played monkey in the middle with Kianna and Kayla. I was in the middle 3 or 4 times. It was so divertido. It rained a lot. We went to dance lessons but me and Kianna didn’t want to dance so watched and played a game. I liked watching everyone dance. There was a man there that was super tall, probably like 6’5. Then I ate some steak tacos, I just like the steak in the middle and the pico de gallo but not the tortilla. I ate everyone’s pico de gallo and even drank the liquid. It was so delicioso. Then I went home, and went to bed. The end. That’s my blog.
